Promontory

On Saturday Apr. 25 we're meeting at Flying J at 9:30 am, at the
south end parking lot, Willard, and parking up at
Cook pit/quarry. There's a sign that reads "Cook Pit",
on east on Hwy. 81. From the pit we walk SOUTH on the canal road
toward lower Holmes Canyon creekbed
to see the petroglyphs (if there's time, pictographs).

Some moderate hiking, bring water, snacks, camera, etc.
I'll give them a copy of the map to show where the rock
art sites are in that area.

Late-comers can call my cell phone #458-9295 if they
want to catch up.

Utah Statewide Archaeological Society
Promontory Tubaduka chapter
Thursday, March 12
7 p.m.
WSU Social Science Building, Room 28 (lower floor)
Speaker - Bonnie Pitblado, Utah State University

We have Bonnie Pitblado as our speaker for Thursday, March 12. She was scheduled earlier in the year and was unable to come due to surgery. Dr. Pitblado will be speaking on Utah State's Southeastern Idaho and Northern Utah Paleo Indian Research Program. She has incredible handouts for the meeting and will give an excellent presentation. We need as many chapter members and guests to come as possible for this outstanding speaker and local subject.

We also need to round out the final plans out for the USAS Convention in June. This information needs to be ready for the state meeting. We will need all our members to help in some way on that first weekend in June: registration, auction, etc.

Come with good ideas for field trip possiblities for the Spring, as well as Saturdays which would work out best for you. There are a lot of places in Northern Utah with lithics, rock art, etc.
